Basic Appearance: Rugged is a good way to describe him. His eyes are a dark brown shade that shine with a variety of emotions, or tend to be dull and life less. Unlike many, he is in tip top shape thanks to his years on the police force before the out break happened to take place. His clothing is usually quite normal, either wearing jeans and shirts or if he feels extra good he'll slide on his old cop uniform.
Personality and Past
Personality:
Humorous - Even though the world has ended, he still has a decent sense of humor. He tries to find happiness and fun in the more dire of situations, it tends to help him cope with what is going on.
Sarcastic - This sort of falls into the category with humor. He can be a very sarcastic asshole, but he does it only to defuse a situation in most cases. He loves anyone that can be sarcastic back with him.
Romantic - Shane deep down beyond the sarcasm and dark sense of humor is a romantic. He always wanted to have someone that would love him truly, and even now he desires to find this person. Sad to say he has a soft spot for Lori, and wishes she would return these emotions now that Rick has come back to them.
Protective: Shane has taken on a fatherly role in Carl's life. He wants whats best for the boy even if he disagree's with what his parents want for him. Shane is also protective of Lori but tries to keep his distance from her now that Rich has returned to them. As for the group itself he is also protective, but figures people can make their own decisions. He doesn't like the idea of 'new' people joining the group. Shane sees outsiders as a threat to their new way of life.
Guilt Ridden: Feels guilty for sleeping with Lori and possibly getting her pregnant.
Likes: The scent of falling rain, Newly fallen snow, The memory of what the world used to be, Dogs, cats, and any animal spared by the infected, Seeing Lori smile, Teaching Carl how to be a man, Keeping the group safe
Dislikes: That the world is over, Losing some many to the infected, That Rick is back, When the group doesn't take his advice on something
History: Shane was born the youngest of three brothers, the last child Katrina and Travis would have. He grew up in King's County, living the American dream as a child. He spent most of his days playing with his friends, fishing, and just being outside. Most of the time he hated being home, he hated seeing what drugs and alcohol abuse was doing to his father and in turn his mom. His brothers were years older then him and had better things to do then play with a kid. Around the age of nine, his life went into a downward spiral, when his father got arrested for spousal abuse. With Travis gone for a time, life became rather peaceful.
This peace did not last however, with the bread winner in jail it did not take long for the Walsh family to lose their house. Katrina and her three boys moved in with his paternal grandmother a women named Jean. Shane became extremely attached to his grandmother, and found so much love and joy with this women. It was around this time that he met his best friend Rich Grimes. They were inseparable from the day they had met one another. The two boys growing together and deciding to join the police force together.
At the tender age of eighteen Shane went into the academy. Within a year he graduated along side his best friend. The two young men soon were hired by a department and that was were they had stayed. Shane had been there for everything in Rick's life, the moment he met Lori, watching them date, get married, and when she became pregnant with her son, --- he had been so excited to be in this child's life. The birth of Carl had been one of the greatest moments in his life, and he had vowed to keep that boy safe.
When Rick had been shot that day, he had taken on the responsibility of watching over Lori and Carl. He had taken them when the out break started. Leaving his best friend behind in a coma, and he had assumed Rick was dead meat. It was soon after he took on a fatherly role with young Carl, and a romantic involvement developed between him and Lori. He had fallen for this women entirely, she held his heart.

Other Characters:
RP Sample: He had come to hate night time, each and every night it was the same routine. The band of misfits or rather survivors would scrape up food for a meal. Small talk would ensue and he would day dream of days gone by. Memories of people and places he'd likely never see again. Sometimes he would talk during these meal times, but most of the time he'd just listen to the others talk. On most nights he would have tears in his eyes on more then one occasion. Then they would say good night and go to bed and try to sleep. Each night he lay there with Lori tucked against him, feeling the hot tears soaking his collar. He knew she regretted how things ended between herself and Rick. How bad their marriage had become before he was shot that fateful day. It was hard on Shane to watch her silently mourn for her husband, and how sometimes he'd catch Carl staring off into the distance. He was trying his hardest to do right by them both, but it was no picnic for him. After awhile he would fall into a dreamless slumber, only to awake to every snap and pop near him. Dawn would come and life would repeat itself again.
This night was no different then any other. He entered their tent in silence, exhaustion biting at every nerve. He desired nothing more then to sleep. Yawning quietly he looked at the meager belongings that they had scavenged. This was all they had anymore, just this tent. It made him bitter and he jerked his eyes towards the cot in which he slept. The quiet breathing in the tent told him both Lori and Carl were fast asleep, or feigning sleep. Shane didn't bother to remove his clothing, not with the world ending. He needed to be able to move on a moments notice, so the luxury of sleeping in underwear was long gone. Yawning again, he dropped onto the cot as quietly as he could manage. It wasn't as comfortable as a bed but was close enough.
Stretching out slowly, he nearly groaned with satisfaction. It only took a few moments for sleep to begin to nip at his eyelids. Though his brain was brought back into consciousness, when he heard movement. Seconds later he felt a hot mouth against his own, soft hands gently touching his shoulders. The sweet smell of Lori's perfume tickled his nose, his eyes fluttered open to look up at her. He never imagined in a million years he would be here with her, to be intimate with her. She had been off limits since they had met through Rick. Honestly, he had never looked at her in that way until this happened. The world was in chaos and he wanted to keep them safe. He wanted to keep Rick's family safe.
His own hands found the soft flesh of her sides, his hands groping her silently for a moment. Their mouths moving against each other in a intimate dance, tongues rubbing against one another. He felt her gasp, and with a expert twist of his hips, switched their positions. It didn't take much effort to get inside her, she didn't struggle. Her body warm and wanting his attention, and he was more then willing to give her that attention. Shane often mentioned protection to Lori but she always said no, so now he didn't bother. It felt like heaven being inside of her, and with a soft groan he looked down into her eyes.
They kept eye contact as this intimate dance continued. One would think Carl would wake up during this, but the boy slept soundly. His body needing to shut down to deal with the constant stress. Shane did keep an eye on him however watching his breathing rhythm, he didn't want the boy to catch them. Rolling his hips in an expert fashion he watched her eyes roll, a lazy smile crossing her face as he moved against her. Sometimes in these moments he wanted to tell her he loved her. Never did he. Perhaps out of respect for his dead friend.. or out of the fear of rejection. Those words never passed his lips.
As they finished in an explosion of emotion and primal instincts, the couple dressed in relative silence. Shane watched her quietly slip back to Carl's side, and he moved to lay down. Feigning sleep, he stared at the mesh of the tent. Oh how he hated the world ending.
