As the Brotherhood loses its short-lived hold on New York City, the tide of public fury rises against mutantkind. New enemies arise whose hatred for mutants is indiscriminate, and the powers that be are stirring - the people are becoming convinced that there is only room for one species on the planet: Homo sapien or Homo superior.
As the residents of the Xavier Institute attempt to continue their lives in peace amidst the political war that is being waged against mutantkind, the members of the Brotherhood lie in wait, making small moves towards re-establishing their power base. Two oppositional forces, united with a single goal - survival.
