- By joining Days Gone By you are agreeing to follow all of these rules.
- One account per character. Make a new account for each character but let us know which is you main.
- Each person is allowed an unlimited number of characters on this site. However, if you take on more characters then you can keep up with, the staff will ask you to either put some up for adoption or find a way to eliminate them in the roleplay.
- To start off, you are only allowed 2 canon characters. This makes it fair for everyone to have a chance at playing a canon. However, if a specific canon is needed and everyone's limit has been reached, we will allow auditions for that character and whoever passes the audition will be allowed that extra canon until a new user wishes to play the character. Then ownership will transfer from one member to the other. Staff are limited to 3 canons.
- You are only allowed to post in 3 threads at one time per character. We want activity, but not chaos.
- We will have an activity check every month to make sure that your account is active. If you miss the period to check in without reason, your characters will be sent to the adoption center and your account deleted.
- Be original, no Mary-Sues or tyrant-like-villains. This is the Walking Dead people, no emo chicks with perfect hair or guys doped up on drugs. You will be made an example of, then deleted if you attempt such an epic fail.
the registration
- No, you may not use names like devil666 or Lori_Lover for your display name. Your display name is simply the full name of your character. Ex. "Joey Aberdeen". You account name can be whatever you desire, just nothing inappropriate.
- Put your nickname as your personal text for each character! That way, we know who you are.
- No overly large signatures. If you're using a graphic it can be no larger than 200x500 or if your using icons it should be no more than two rows of icons. Basically, do not stretch the page horizontally or vertically.
- OOC fighting will not be tolerated. You do it, and we have the rights to ban you from this site. You may, of course, fight In Character while posting, but fighting with a character's handler will cause trouble and there will be consequences.
the application
- No Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu’s. As this is an advanced board, we expect the characters to be well developed. This means there have to be flaws and points of weakness. Things they’re good at it, things they detest. Nobody’s perfect, not even me which – I know – is hard to believe.
- Don't complain to a Leader if your favorite character was already claimed. Instead why not create a character all your own or check out the adoption board?
- Before your character biography is accepted do not post anywhere else. OoC boards are fine.
- Your character must be represented by a photo. No drawings. Please make sure to claim your characters face in the Face Claim board.
- Whether you get accepted or not depends wholly on your application. Don't just rush through it – actually work on it because it can help you feel out who your character is. Character application password is "Fight the dead. Fear the living.".
the in-character
- All posts will be done in Third-Person. No exceptions.
- No killing or maiming another character without the owners consent. You will be made an example of and deleted if this happens.
- Days Gone By takes place nearly a year after the initial outbreak. /so your character is not going to randomly find a gallon of milk in the store. Alot of food and drugs are perishable. Be sure to think if an item would still be around before you toss it in a post.
- Be wary of everyone! That nice old lady that just invited you into her home could be a cannibal. Be on your toes and trust no one. But do not go shooting up the neighborhood and wipe out all the survivors. Use your head and place your judgement carefully.
- Preserve your ammo! This is not a video game with infinite bullets. You will run out and be shit out of luck. Some weapons will break if used too much. A stick will not last as long as a machete. Research your weapons well.
- Obey your groups leader if you want to survive. If you cock too much attitude, you will be thrown out or killed. If you think you can make it out on your own, then go ahead. Just don't come crawling back all bitten up and shit.
- Be realistic here people. If you got shot, your character is out of commission for a while if they can get medical attention. Become a germ-a-phobe and wrap every wound you receive. Don't want infection to get in.
- You can only play living characters. No walkers, period. Yes, you can control walkers in your posts but your character cannot be played as a walker. If your character dies, feel free to make another and jump back in!
- The youngest age you can play is 8 years old. However, if you want to play a child, make sure you have an adult responsible for you. There's no way a lone child will survive. And if you wander too far from the group, you're shit of out luck and become zombie bait.
- Feel free to create your own plots with other members, as long as they don't clash with the site wide plot.
the rating
- Sex // Pregnancy – No roleplaying detailed sex scenes please. Be aware that this is the apocalypse and if you get knocked up 'cause you can't keep your legs closed, your survival rate just went down. Fornicate at your own risk.
- Cursing is allowed, but please don't make it a first language for your character. No one goes around cursing all the time.
- Feel free to smoke...if you can find usable tobacco that is. Be realistic, remember supplies will run out. You're gonna turn into a non-smoker really quick.
the rest
- God-modding is a definite no. If you don't know what that means, look it up. Though I have to wonder how long you've been role-playing.
- Respect is a complete must have on this site. We will not tolerate any sort of harassment.
- This is an Advanced role-play site, which means that the posts must be lengthy and well written. A minimum of 250 words per post. As for grammar, try and keep it at a fairly high level. We understand that people make typos but a post riddled with errors is not what we're looking for.
- Leaders have the final say. No matter what.
- You may advertise for other sites, but only in the advertisement board, not on your signature or in any of your posts.
